Goat's milk (if you can get fresh) is a great alternative to formula. You may need some vitamin supplementation though, I can't say for sure. I was unable to breast feed, and my son was unable to tolerate formula, or whole cows milk, either. He did ok with 2% mixed with strained bananas, and I added rice cereal as soon as I could. I couldn't obtain fresh goat's milk at the time, all I could find was the canned stuff, which he refused to take. Can't say I blame him, I couldn't choke it down either.

Jenny - I've been doing some research on goat's milk as an alternative. Thanks for the information.

Yay, 10 weeks! Big smile

Sheep's milk is even better, but a lot harder to come by. Aceinthehole posted some about that over in livestock, with some nice links to milk info.

Hey... just stumbled upon this today... CONGRATULATIONS !!!  Smile
I breast fed and loved it... great time for ''bonding" . I also worked and my husband tried to give her formula when I wasn't there... even pumped milk... she really kind of held out for the real thing. SHe'd drink a little from the bottle, but waited until I got home.  Worked for us. I was able to get home in the middle of the day most of the time... or early afternoon. Then sometimes back out again. Babies are pretty resilient.

Enough with the spam! Going to look for maternity clothes this weekend. Not really excited. As a short, plus-sized woman, shopping leaves a lot to be desired. Wish me luck!

Okay. The first of the baby gear has arrived. Premature? Maybe. Do I care? Nope. I have a single pack of onesies and disposables for the birthing center and ride home. I, today, bought our baby carrier and a sling for me. Also, my first cloth diaper covers. I am quietly pleased. I will post some pictures when I can but it has been a long day and I need to rest.

I will say, getting to see myself in a full-length mirror (needed a few things for me since clothes are getting snug. Will by used but there was a sale so off to the store I went) I could see my bigger belly. I still just look fat but I definitely look like I am pregnant (at least to me and I know my body better than anyone). It was a wondrous moment.

So glad all's well, and you're looking preggers now!

I'm a large economy size woman, and have an awful time finding things that fit and don't just look silly as hell.

I'm getting smaller, though. I think there's about to be some shape-shifting here, for both of us, you getting bigger, (the way you're supposed to, I mean) me getting smaller...

Jen, I'm really proud of you sticking with the diet...although you really don't have a choice but glad you're embracing it. And Sac, you just shop away!! it's heart warming to see the changes in ones body...from diet and from new life (big smile here ladies)

Something I don't think anyone anyone has addressed is car seats. If have a little knowledge since I am a little birth control challenged. Also trained as a NHTSA child passenger safety seat inspector/installer. Only buy a new one. They a really only good for 5-7 years. Plastic breaks down and becomes brittle. Only buy one the has been approved by NHTSA, should be a sticker on it. Also, take it out of the box and look for a manufacture date stamped in the plastic. Should find it around the base. This is to make sure it has not been sitting around in some warehouse for years (it happens)
I personally like the seats that DO NOT have the separate base. I've seen studies that have the two piece kind breaking away from the base in high speed crashes. Read the owners manual, then take the seat and the owners manual to the police or fire dept (call em first to make sure they have someone working at the time that can do this) and have them show you how to install it. 85% of the seats I have inspected are improperly installed.... scary huh??

Cosco and Grayco are both good brands at reasonable prices. Expect to pay around 100.00 for a decent one. If I were to buy one brand, spanking new item, this would be it.

Can't wait for you to feel baby move, it will bring tears of joy... wonderful feeling Smile
Wag more, bark less.
