Another item, not a natural antibiotice but...is to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in some water (or in a salad dressing or whatever) once a day.  It helps acidify the system and the germies like a lower pH.  Garlic will repel a lot of things ... Wink

I've decided to blame Peter Fonda  Big%20smile

All Flu's are a virus but conventional medicine often treats it with antibiotics which is why the good old antibiotics have little effect these days.  One of the new antibiotics, cipero I think it's called, can actually be quite dangerous and can cause very bad side effects. However I believe it's first purpose was in the treatment of anthrax.

Now tho, in my uneducated opinion, an antibiotic will be an important part of getting thru any pandemic because diseases long thought gone and others that we believe to be fairly harmless will be a lot more dangerous in the event of severely lowered immune systems. I think at this point most of us would survive this new swavian flu but we may not survive the common cold while recovering.

I disagree completely about not boosting your immune system but I am no doctor and have no formal education.

Antibiotics not only have no effect on viruses, they attack the immune system and strengthen the virus...no antibiotics...no...no...no.

I disagree completely. I think natural antibiotics are extrememly important. Echinacea and honey are both excellent antibiotics and antivirals and antifungals, they not only support the immune system but also strengthen it while killing and or inhibiting the growth of virus and bacteria.  Bacteria has often been the killer after virals weaken the system.

but to each their own  :)

Wow! There's a news alert saying that 3 schools in East Haddam, CT  have been shut down..2 children have become ill after vacationing in Mexico.. Looks like CT isn't immune after all..it was just a matter of time..

Cipro has been around for awhile... My mom used to take it when I was in high school. That was about 25 years ago Her doctor used to prescribe it when she got spider bites while gardening. We never knew that it was the same drug used to combat anthrax until the anthrax attacks after 9/11, when the drug was mentioned on the news.
