People view their horses more as pets (me included) then livestock.  I would never eat my horses, when they die, I bury them.  Some might call it wasteful, I don't care.  That's how it is.  If someone wants to send their old, lame, wild, whatever horse to the meat man, that's their own personal choice.  It's just one more way for the gov't to be in your back pocket telling you what you can & can't do with your own livestock. 
 
The bill is a bad thing.  Backyard breeders are bad things too, and until people quit breeding crap with crap & producing crap, there's going to be a awful market for horses & it's just going to get worse now.  You should have to have a licence to breed horses....any animals. 
 
Just my rant.  QUIT BREEDING HORSES & THEN THERE WILL BE LESS UNWANTED HORSES IN THE WORLD.  Until that happens, this is NOT going to get any better.
 
man i am gona step short on part of that post i dont think you should have a licence to breed your livestock. if you sell them then yes but what about the guy that barters a horse for say some pigs or dogs? heck i got a billy goat that is allready traded to a neighbor for some pigs and he wont be born till next year. see there is a fine line here and it was crossed with the kill bill.

Here they,re called "Pioneer Maid".

When the non-partisan Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) released their newest Congressional Report Card, they gave John McCain a "D." It's because--as we've shown--he votes against veterans. Amusingly enough, it seems the pro-Bush/McCain group, Vets for Freedom, got their feelings hurt over this. And they felt they had to do something.
That's why, today, Vets for Freedom issued a skewed response to IAVA's Report Card in the form of a "Senate Analysis." In their "analysis," they graded each U.S. senator in a similar fashion, awarding grades of "A" through "F." Amazingly enough, VFF gave every single Democratic senator a grade of "F." Go figure. I'm sure their Republican membership will be pleased. But given the situation in which they found themselves (with IAVA and VoteVets on cable TV slamming both McCain's grade and his lack of support for veterans), I guess it's to be expected. Of course, this is a transparent, politically motivated joke. This neocon-backed group gave failing grades to the likes of Chuck Hagel and Jim Webb, both decorated war veterans and co-sponsors of the recent Webb-Hagel-Lautenberg-Warner GI Bill (the one McCain opposed)-- but it shouldn't come as a surprise. McCain backers Joe Lieberman and Lindsay Graham were on the board of "Vets For Freedom," but were forced to resign their positions because it violated federal election law.

Can anyone make a recommendation on wood cookstoves?

I am leary of old stoves due to safety and wood consumption, so if any of you have used a newer model I'd like to hear about it.
